Four militants killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 21 (UNI) Security forces gunned down four militants including the alleged killer of a police sub-inspector in two different gun battles in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday, officials said. Two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), including Majid Nazir, a suspect behind the killing of police officer Farooq Mir, were killed in Tujjan area of Pulwama district. The body of Mir was recovered from Awantipora on June 18. He was posted with the India Reserve Police. “JeM terrorist Majid Nazir, killer of Farooq Mir, has been neutralised in Pulwama," Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted. One more militant was gunned down in an ongoing encounter in Tulibal area of Sopore, taking the toll to two. The gun battle erupted at Tulibal area during an anti militancy operation. "As the joint teams of forces cordoned the suspected spot, terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight in which an unidentified militant was killed," a security official said. UNI QAB MR
